Having a Halloween party? Need a non-tacky Halloween serving board? Then let’s make this Halloween serving board diy or you could say Halloween snack tray. Halloween is the perfect time to get creative with DIY projects. I especially enjoy DIY Decor projects during this time. This spooky-cute wooden ghost serving platter is a fun addition to your Halloween party or just as Halloween decor. Using just a few tools and materials, you can make your own ghost board to impress your guests this spooky season! Let’s get started!

What You’ll Need for this Halloween serving board DIY
- Scroll saw (or jigsaw)
- Sandpaper (various grits, starting coarse and finishing fine)
- Pencil & paper (for tracing the ghost shape)
- Black wood stain (or acrylic paint, if preferred)
- Olive oil (for food-safe finish)
- Clean rag or cloth

Step 1: Draw Ghost Sketch or Any Thing
choose your Halloween shape. I chose a ghost but anything Halloween related could work, such as pumpkins, bats, spiders. Trace the outline with pencil onto your chosen piece of wood.
Step 2: Cut the Shape using a scroll saw
Wear safety glasses and carefully cut along the outline of your ghost or outline of your chosen shape. Take your time on the curves and small details.
Step 3: Smooth It Out
Sand the entire board starting with a coarse grit sandpaper and working your way to a fine grit. Make sure all edges are smooth and rounded. Round up any edges you couldn’t round smoothly with the scroll saw.
Step 4: Add the Face
Dip a small brush into black wood stain but any darker wood stain will do, and paint on two eyes and an open ghostly mouth. Allow the stain to soak in and dry completely before moving on.
Step 5: Finish With Olive Oil
I used olive oil as it’s more food friendly but varnish can be used too, if you want this for decor. keep. This not only brings out the natural grain of the wood but also gives it a warm, rustic finish. Reapply oil as needed to keep the wood nourished.
Step 6: Serve & Enjoy!
Your ghost serving platter is ready to use! Lay out cookies, cheese, candy, or spooky Halloween treats on your handmade board.

This DIY wooden ghost serving board is simple, budget-friendly, and totally unique. With just a scroll saw, some sanding, and a little creativity, you can whip up your own festive platter that will last for many Halloweens to come.
