Low Energy Crafts You Can Do When Tired

Sometimes there are days when you are so tired and exhausted but still want to create something whether it’s to feel like you have accomplished something or a form of wind down and relaxation, not all crafts are good to do when tired. Let’s talk about it

Here are my favourite crafts for when you’re tired but still want to do something low energy and creative, these crafts are not 12 hours crafting sessions.

Some other posts related to crafting:

1. The “No-Brain” Embroidery Session

No pattern. No Pinterest.

Just grab:

  • Scrap fabric
  • Any thread color
  • A hoop

And repeat one stitch over over again.

Some easy stitches that require little brain power are:

  • Back stitch.
  • Running stitch.
  • French knots.

That’s it.

Repetition is relaxing and the result might not be Pinterest worthy, it’s great practice and the result might not be that bad !

2. Make a Tiny Version of Something

When you’re exhausted, shrink the project. Sounds hard but it’s so simple:

Instead of:

A full wall hoop → make a 3-inch mini

A full felt animal → make a tiny heart

A blanket → make one granny square

Tiny projects get finished faster and feel more rewarding quicker.

3. Prep for your next Crafting session

You don’t have to finish something to be productive.

You can:

  • Cut fabric or pattern pieces for future projects
  • Trace embroidery patterns
  • Wind thread onto bobbins
  • Put together little craft kits

4. Repetitive Crochet or Knitting Rows

No complex stitches!

Just:

Repetition like this is relaxing, after a few lines, your mind and hands are on autopilot !

5. Abstract Watercolour

This is one is a great craft to do when exhausted, it’s very relaxing and the pictures produced tend to have a relaxing, calm feel.

No florals or landscapes. No complicated scenes

Just:

  • Soft colour washes
  • Let the colours bleed
  • Painting stripes or blobs

The result is usually surprisingly pretty and can be used as cards or gift tags later on. I made Christmas wrapping paper!

6. Craft While Lying Down…

If you’re that tired… there are actually a lot of crafts that can be done while lying down, while not good for posture, doing it once in a while doesn’t hurt.

You can:

  • Hand sew in bed
  • Crochet on the couch
  • Do simple embroidery while watching Tv in bed

7. Give Yourself a 15-Minute Craft Window

When you’re exhausted, set simple goals.

Set a 15-minute timer. After 15 minutes even if you haven’t completed a lot, you would have still completed something! And that’s still rewarding when tired.

Final Thoughts…

Crafting when tired and exhausting can feel impossible, but it’s not! There are crafts out there that are low energy, and these crafts will help you wind down and fully relax In your tired state.

Stay creative and have fun!
